About

Chantal Taluba holds her BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts, at Rutgers University. She has a double major in psychology. She has had the pleasure of learning works by Ani Javian, Chein-Ying Wang, Cleo Mack, Blair Ritchie, Kelli McGovern and Lynn Neuman. She has also performed in several venues across New Jersey including Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, The Farmstead Arts Center in Basking Ridge, Memorial Auditorium in Montclair, and Victoria J. Mastrobuono Theater in New Brunswick, and New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick. Continuously, she has participated in numerous student works at Mason Gross. As an emerging choreographer, her company, TalubaDance, performs in the NJ/NYC area for many different festivals and events.

Chantal also has a passion for psychology. The brain is an ambiguous figure that holds so many questions. She is very interested in the brain’s impulses vs. resistances, its developmental stages, and how environments effect the brain. After graduating, she worked in a public school for children and adolescents who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. The work done here, and the knowledge gained from this experience, heavily influences her creative work. She is now going back to school to receive her doctorate in psychology. As a choreographer, her artistry is heavily influenced by her work and background in psychology. The movement that Taluba creates is based on ideas of different theories, stigmas, and research in psychology.
